An F-35A Lightning II, assigned to the 61st Fighter Squadron, takes off Aug. 21, 2019, from Luke Air Force Base, Ariz. Pilots training in the 61st FS go through a nine month flight course which includes an academic portion that covers mindfulness, awareness, intensity regulation, focus and attention, self-talk, goal setting, confidence, motivation and team cohesion to prepare student pilots for the mental aspects of piloting.
