Tech. Sgt. Mark Frandsen, U.S. Air Forces in Europe rock band Touch 'n Go bassist, performs during a Children's Day festival April 22, 2012, at Incirlik Air Base, Turkey. The band traveled from Ramstein Air Base, Germany, to kick off the festival designed to promote partnership and camaraderie across cultures and to celebrate children as the world's future. The event featured activity booths, games and performances designed to honor children and celebrate cultures coming together. In 1979, the United Nation's Year of the Child, the Turkish government proposed April 23 be declared a holiday for children of the world. That same year, Turkey began inviting children from every country to participate in Children's Day festivities.
