Nagle, a retired a retired lieutenant colonel, is the author of Learning to Eat Soup with a Knife: Counterinsurgency Lessons from Malaya and Vietnam and was on the writing team that published the U.S. Army/Marine Corps Counterinsurgency Field Manual.
