190706-N-SS350-1083 GULF OF OMAN (July 6, 2019) Damage Controlman 3rd Class Steven Walawender, from Lackawanna, N.Y., mans a fire hose nozzle during a freshwater washdown aboard the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Bainbridge (DDG 96). Bainbridge is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operation in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and Pacific through the Western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
