Pfc. Herbert N. Jackson, a native of Bolivar, Tenn., and a member of Battery A, 2nd Battalion, 17th Field Artillery, 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, received the Purple Heart for injuries received during a mortar attack from his battalion commander, Lt. Col. Wayne Grieme, in a ceremony at Forward Operating Base Loyalty in eastern Baghdad, Aug. 19.
