Father Pins Son to Specialist During Deployment in Kuwait

Sgt. 1st Class Nicholas Krause, right, a truck driver and the first sergeant for 32nd Composite Truck Company, 68th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 4th Infantry Division, pins his son, Spc. Skylar Krause, a geospatial intelligence imagery analyst with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, to the rank of specialist during a brief promotion ceremony at Camp Buehring, Kuwait, on Friday, April 26. Spc. Krause waited nearly two months to be pinned to specialist, just so his father, who arrived in Kuwait only days ago, would be able to promote him. Spc. Krause said it meant a lot to him to have his father pin him, as a symbol of the continuation of the legacy of military service in their family. Sgt. 1st Class Krause also promoted his son to private first class when the two were stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado at the same time. The Krause Soldiers said their timing of being stationed together and deployed at the same time was "sheer luck," but something they both enjoy and appreciate. "It's pretty amazing being here, especially being in a deployed environment, and being able to see my son progress," said Sgt. 1st Class Krause. "It's a great feeling."
