Lt. Vincent Naccarato takes off from the angled flight deck after missing a landing attempt in his F/A-18F Super Hornet aboard USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) June 6. Naccarato's tailhook missed the four arresting wires, which is called a "bolter," and his aircraft was forced to take off and return to the landing pattern. The flashing red on the aircraft's tail and a long photographic exposure makes it look as if there are three aircraft taking off. Kitty Hawk is conducting her summer deployment.
