We asked drill instructor Sgt. Jasmine Penado, Support Battalion, Recruit Training Regiment, on what it means to her to make Marines.
“It is a demand on yourself. You think you’re tired and you think you have reached your potential, but it is no longer about yourself. You won’t want to wake up in the morning but you do it anyways because it is for the recruits. You have to give it your all no matter if you are tired because at the end of the day, who are the recruits going to emulate? You have to set the example at all times.”
