A C-130H3 Hercules from Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Ga. prepares to take off from Lajes Field, Azores, Jan. 27, 2018.
The C-130 was one of two Hercules that stopped in the Azores en route to Portugal where they are scheduled to participate in a large joint and combined force exercise over the next two weeks.
Real Thaw 18 is an annual Portuguese-led large joint and combined force exercise and includes a vast range of tactical training such as air-to-air and air-to-ground training, tactical air transport operations and close air support.
