As I reflect on my first full year in the Air Force as a photojournalist, the opportunities I was given did not arise without obstacles. Maybe it has something to do becoming a year older, or the affinity I have with my own despair, but reflecting on the previous 12 months before welcoming a new year gives me the feeling of hope.
