Teri Smith, spouse of a retired military member, bridles her six-year-old horse at the Scarlet & Gold Riding Club on Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C. Dec. 10, 2018. SGRC is a self-care facility where every horse gets their own stall, tack locker, and feed storage. Smith has two horses in this stable whom she attends twice a day by feeding and training. “They’re like my emotional well-being and gym membership,” said Smith. “They keep me sane while I also get the exercise.” (U.S. Marine Corps Photo by Lance Cpl.
