A group of U.S. Army personnel in ACU (Army Combat Uniform) camouflage are seated in what appears to be a military briefing or conference room. Two senior officers are prominently visible in the foreground, one with a name tape reading 'AUSTIN' and visible four-star rank insignia, and another with glasses and two-star rank insignia. Additional uniformed personnel are visible in the background, some taking notes.

Gen. Lloyd J. Austin III, United States Forces-Iraq commanding general and Thomasville, Ga., native visited Lt. Gen. Vincent K. Brooks, Third Army/ARCENT commanding general and Alexandria, Va., native, and his team here Dec. 2. During his visit, Gen. Austin expressed his gratitude for Third Army operations in support of the Dec. 31 deadline to withdraw troops from Iraq to Lt. Gen. Brooks and Third Army key leaders. “There is no one north of the border that thinks their doing this [withdraw operations] by themselves,” Gen. Austin stated. “Your team has exceeded the standards.”
