Anchorage Police recruits participate in an Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, Nov. 7, 2018. As part of the training, recruits are tested on their driving skills during a driving simulation which includes driving around obstacles instead of trying to use the brakes. The purpose of the training is to prepare every recruit for real-life scenarios they might encounter on the job. The training also included backing up, blocking and spinning a vehicle, driving around obstacles, and a final pursuit which combines all the techniques taught during the training.
