Col. Russell C. Burton (right) commanding officer, Marine Corps Air Station New River, was on hand to present awards to Civilian Leadership Development Program participants who have completed a minimum of three different competencies and submitted their Individual Leadership Development Plan at the Officers’ Club on MCB Camp Lejeune, Nov. 15. "We (uniformed personnel) need you here. We don’t need managers; we need leaders. Leadership is not something that just happens; it requires study, it requires practice, it requires engagement and continual development and mentoring. The fact that you all are taking the time out of your weeks to come do this is critically important.” CLDP provides development of the leadership competencies and skills of appropriated funded and non-appropriated funded civilian employees supporting Camp Lejeune’s mission. The CLDP helps to develop civilian leaders for the future of the United States Marine Corps and is celebrating its 20th year of being on Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune.
