The Coast Guard, with an embarked disaster medical assistance team, conducted a medical evacuation of an ill 37-year-old woman from Hilo to Honolulu in the early morning Oct. 20, 2018. Personnel at the Coast Guard Joint Rescue Coordination Center received a request from the Hawaii State Department of Health Hawaii County late Oct. 19 to transport the woman to a higher level of medical care.
