U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Afghanistan Engineer District-North Commander, Army Col. Christopher Martin presents the Purple Heart Medal on Army Sgt. Barry W. Castro, Oct. 13 at the USACE Forward Operating Base Shank area office located in the Logar province of eastern Afghanistan. Castro was wounded in combat on Sept. 4. Castro is a force protection team member and attached to the AED-North detachment. Castro is deployed from Lebanon, Tenn., and is a native of Nashville, Tenn.
