Leroy Mitchell, the commanding officer of the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Benfold (DDG 65), congratulates Chief Fire Controlman Eric Johnson, from Ivor, Va., on his promotion during a chief pinning ceremony on the ship’s flight deck. The ceremony is part of a long-standing tradition that honors and recognizes the years of hard work, service and leadership dedicated to Sailors in the Navy. Benfold is forward-deployed to the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations in support of security and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
