Coast Guard Lt. Trevor Clark, assigned to the Civil Engineering Unit Oakland, prepares a Short Range Small-Unmanned Aircraft System for testing in Honolulu prior to Hurricane Lane’s anticipated landfall, Aug. 24, 2018. This is the first time the Coast Guard will use a SR-sUAS vehicle for post-storm assessments efficiently surveying for pier damage, waterway debris, hazardous material spills and ensure navigational aids are operational and in place to safely guide ships back into port once the ports are reopened after the storm.
