180808-N-NZ491-090 VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Electronics Technician 2nd Class Cory Parkhurst, from Aurora, Illinois (left), gives midshipmen Christian Neu, a University of Nebraska student from Waukesha, Wisconsin (center), and Matthew McPhail, a University of North Carolina student from Charlotte, North Carolina (right), a tour aboard the Mark VI patrol boat. Each summer ROTC and U.S. Naval Academy Midshipmen visit Navy commands around the globe during the summer training programs designed to assist the midshipmen in making informed decisions about the warfare areas in which they’ll request to serve after their commissions. Navy Expeditionary Combat Command hosts midshipmen during their summer training to expose them to the mission sets and leadership opportunities found within the Navy’s expeditionary communities.
