U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Ismael Garcia II, assigned to Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment, holds security as an Alaska Army National Guard UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter, with the 1st Battalion, 207th Aviation Regiment, approaches the landing zone during the 4th Marine Division Super Squad Competition held at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, Aug. 6, 2018. During the multi-day competition, squads from 1st and 3rd Battalions, 23rd Marine Regiment and 1st Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, exercised their technical and tactical proficiencies by competing in events that highlighted offensive/defensive operations, patrolling techniques, combat marksmanship, physical endurance and small unit leadership.
