Gunnery Sgt. Michael Munoz, left, and Gunnery Sgt. Daniel Haack prepare for skid rappel training, July 16, 2018, at Camp Schwab, Okinawa, Japan. During the training, Marines refined helicopter rope suspension and rappelling techniques necessary to perform a wide range of military operations. Skid rappelling offers no other surface contact besides the rope itself. Munoz and Haack are natives of Chicago, Illinois, and Gladbrook, Iowa, respectively, and are both section fire chiefs with 5th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company, III Marine Expeditionary Force Information Group.
