U.S. Navy Lt. j.g. Christine Peterlin and U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman 2 James Akin put a simulated casualty into an emergency helicopter during a Marine Corps Combat Readiness Evaluation at Colonel Ernesto Ravina Air Base, Philippines, May 8, 2018. The MCCRE evaluated Navy Corpsmens' effectiveness in a combat setting by preparing them for real life emergencies through simulations of patient care during the assessment. Exercise Balikatan, in its 34th iteration, is an annual U.S.-Philippine military training exercise focused on a variety of missions, including humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, counterterrorism and other combined military operations held from May 7 to 18. Peterlin, a critical care nurse with Bravo Company, 3rd Medical Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group is a native of Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania.
