Sgt. 1st Class Marcus Dudley, a customs program manager with Third Army/ARCENT operational protection, as well as a Daytona Beach, Fla., native and Mainland High School alumni, is honored as Third Army’s Soldier of the week for Aug. 15 – 21. Four days into his deployment here, Dudley was sent to Afghanistan to train over 600 soldiers, sailors and airmen at the Bagram and Kandahar Air Fields on customs procedures. After his successful tenure in Afghanistan, Dudley was immediately sent to Ali Al Salem Air Base, where he trained additional personnel to be customs inspectors for baggage and containers. Dudley now oversees all customs operations and is responsible for certifying customs board clearance agents within Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan. Sgt. 1st Class Daniel L. Davenport, Third Army/ARCENT operational protection, and a Baxley, Ga., native, as well as Sgt. 1st Class Dennis Ford, Third Army/ARCENT Operational Protection, and an Ashtabula, Ohio native, both recommended Dudley as Third Army’s Soldier of the week for his outstanding work, drive, and dedication as a noncommissioned officer. With knowledgeable NCOs like Dudley, Third Army is helping service members, the strength of our nation, shape the future of the Middle East.
