Gunnery Sgt. Larry McCutcheon, the equal opportunity advisor of Marine Corps Base Hawaii, poses with his wife, Jessica, at the annual convention of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People in Los Angeles, July 26. McCutcheon is the 2011 Marine Corps recipient of the Roy Wilkins Renown Service Award. The award is given to an individual in each branch of the armed services. “He is a great [staff noncommissioned officer] that listens and cares for his junior Marines,” said Sgt. Joseph Jagerson, a former administrative clerk with the Base Inspector’s Office before moving to Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. Jagerson has worked with McCutcheon since he came aboard the base. “He keeps the morale levels high and has an approachable attitude,” he said. (Photo courtesy of Gunnery Sgt. Larry McCutcheon)
