Corps of Engineers quality assurance representatives David Meyer of the St. Louis District and Robert Espalin of the Los Angeles District oversee debris removal July 24 in Joplin, Mo. The Joplin Recovery Field Office, established to help the city recover from the devastating May 22 EF5 tornado, estimates just over 89 percent of the debris had been removed by July 25. Aug. 7 is the deadline for final debris removal.
