MEDITERRANEAN SEA (March 5, 2018) U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Irving Saucedo, a network administrator assigned to Battalion Landing Team, 2nd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) receives the Empire State Marine of the Week award from U.S. Navy Capt. Todd Vandegrift, captain of the San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock USS New York (LPD 21) March 5, 2018. The Empire State Marine and Sailor of the week award is a recognition to a Marine and Sailor who has shown dedication and hard work in their daily duties and go above and beyond their routine assignment while deployed to the U.S. 6th fleet area of operations. U.S. 6th Fleet, headquartered in Naples, Italy, conducts the full spectrum of joint and naval operations, often in concert with allied and interagency partners, in order to advance U.S. national interests and security and stability in Europe and Africa.
