180225-N-SF984-0067 PACIFIC OCEAN (Feb. 25, 2018) Senior Chief Gas Turbine Systems Technician Claude Marcelin (left), from Miami and Seaman Jalicia Hunter (right), from Mobile, Ala., cut a cake celebrating African American/Black History Month on the mess decks of the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Dewey (DDG 105) as the oldest and youngest crew members of African American descent. This tradition symbolizes the legacy of African American Sailors throughout the Navy's history. Dewey is operating in the Indo-Pacific region to enhance interoperability with partners and serve as a ready-response force for any type of contingency.
