The Queen's Palace sits in the background as a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter takes off from Camp Julien June 16. The commander of ISAF Joint Command, David Rodriguez, met with Afghan and coalition troops and civilians to speak about the importance of counter-insurgency in the current environment as Afghan security forces prepare to take on the full responsibility of securing the country. As the commander of IJC, Rodriguez has constantly stressed the importance of partnership and perseverance for all the nations involved in assisting Afghan forces. The training provided by the COIN Academy is meant to prepare the graduates for the challenges they will face in a counter-insurgency environment.
