Lt. Gen. John Thompson, commander of the Space and Missile Systems Center and Air Force program executive officer for space at Los Angeles Air Force Base, gives a thumbs up inside a one-third scale replica of a North American P-51 "Mustang" fighter during the #LiveOnGreen festivities leading up to the 129th annual Tournament of Roses Parade.
The mini-Mustang's full-size "Big Brother" was flown during WWII by the famed "Red Tail Devils" of Tuskegee Airman, the first all-African-American unit of U.S. Army Air Forces pilots who served with great distinction and honor during a time of racial segregation.
