Lt. Gen. GI Tuck, 18th Air Force commander, conducts pre-flight checks on a KC-10 Extender tanker on Travis Air Force Base, Calif., Dec. 19, 2017. Tuck headed to Travis to fly a tanker swap-out mission to Al Dhafra Air Base's 380th Air Expeditionary Wing. The aircraft will be used to support missions over Syria and Iraq as part of Operation Inherent Resolve. Since OIR began in August 2014, the Air Force has flown 90 percent of the more than 44,000 tanker sorties refueling joint U.S. and Coalition aircraft.
