Construction equipment stands ready to begin work on Route Highlife during a groundbreaking ceremony, March 10, at the Khakrez District Center, Kandahar province, Afghanistan. The road – which is currently a gravel-road that has been washed out and damaged by IEDs – is 20-miles long and connects the Khakrez District Center to Kandahar City. The groundbreaking signifies the beginning of construction on a five-mile stretch of the road.
