Six members from the Pacific Council on International Policy organization met with leaders at the International Security Assistance Force Headquarters March 14 in an ongoing effort to assess Rule of Law initiatives and programs in Afghanistan.
“The Pacific Council is a California-based organization for people interested in international affairs,” said Dr. Jerrold Green, council member. “We are here to educate ourselves about Afghanistan in ways that are not possible watching television or reading newspapers.”
ISAF leaders and council members engaged in an open discussion on issues facing women in Afghanistan to enhance their knowledge of global issues in order to affect public policy.
Attending at the meeting included PCIP members: Ambassador Frank Baxter, Stephanie Freid-Perenchio, Dr. Jerrold Green, Maria Hummer-Tuttle, Nelson Rising, and Ambassador Robert Tuttle; and ISAF leaders, Rear Adm. Martha Herb, Brig. Gen. Christine Whitecross, Col. Shelia Scanlon, Dr. Jackie Kem, Col. Marian Amrein, Jenna Hickman, Lt. Col. Kelly Brown, Naeem Ebrihim, Michael Scionti, Asiyah Sarwari, and Laura Zeman.
