New York National Guard Soldiers assigned to the 69th Infantry Regiment, soon to be renamed the 165th U.S. Infantry, arrive at Camp Mills, near Garden City, N.Y. on Long Island in August of 1917. Camp Mills served as the assembly site for the 42nd Infantry Division, which was comprised of National Guard units from 26 states and reached across the country "lilke a Rainbow".
