CHICAGO (June 29, 2017) – Marine Corps Corporal Rachel Wakefield prepares a serve in a practice exercise of sitting-volleyball for the DoD Warrior Games. The Hephzibah, Georgia native is just one wounded warrior from the Marine Corps team competing in the cross-service competition. More than 250 other athletes will participate in the games that start Friday. The DoD Warrior Games are an annual event allowing wounded, ill and injured servicemembers and veterans to compete in Paralympic-style sports including archery, cycling, field, shooting, sitting-volleyball, swimming, track, and wheelchair basketball.
