Lois (Schwanz) Munns of Rock Springs, Wis., presents Public Affairs Specialist Theresa Fitzgerald with a letter June 13, 2017, she received in 1944 from a Soldier who was stationed at then-Camp McCoy for donation for use in the Fort McCoy History Center. In 1944, while in grade school, Munns’ class sent small valentine baskets to Soldiers/patients at the Camp McCoy Station Hospital. The Soldier who received Munns’ basket wrote back to her thanking her for the valentine basket. Fast forward to 2017, Munns kept the letter she received from Pvt. Norman Grabensky. She said she didn't want to throw it away so she brought it to Fort McCoy for historical archiving and use. (U.S. Army Photo by Scott T. Sturkol, Public Affairs Office, Fort McCoy, Wis.)
