Lt. Robert D. Johnson, 5th Battalion, 10th Marine Regiment, chaplain, accepts the Witherspoon Award at the 2010 National Bible Week Awards Gala, here, Nov. 18. The Littleton, Colo., native was recognized for his religious service, serving alongside Marines and sailors in Helmand province, Afghanistan, during a deployment from April 2009 to March 2010. The Witherspoon Award is given each year to a Chaplain of the Armed Forces who demonstrates a unique commitment to Bible reading and/or who encourages Bible reading in a special way.
