Several American flags hang in a room inside the mortuary affairs collection point at Kandahar Air Field, Afghanistan. The remains of the fallen are transported in flag-draped transfer cases to Dover Air Force Base, Del., where the autopsy and final preparations are made prior to the servicemember being returned to their families for burial.
