    U.S. Navy

Sailors and Marines help the rescued persons embark amphibious dock landing ship USS Pearl Harbor after being transferred from USS Winston S. Churchill Sept. 29. They were rescued by Sailors assigned to Winston S. Churchill Sept. 27 after their small boat capsized in the Gulf of Aden. The rescued persons were originally brought aboard Winston S. Churchill where they received food, water and medical attention before being transferred to Pearl Harbor Sept. 29, where they will remain until decisions are made regarding their disposition. Pearl Harbor’s larger size makes the ship better-equipped to accommodate the 62 rescued persons. Pearl Harbor is part of Combined Task Force 151, a multinational task force established in January 2009 to conduct counter-piracy operations in and around the Gulf of Aden and Somali Basin. CTF 151 is currently commanded by Turkish Navy Rear Adm. Sinan Ertugrul.
