Marines from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit embarked aboard the amphibious dock landing ship USS Harpers Ferry practice shooting their M-14 carbines and M-16 rifles. Harpers Ferry, part of the permanently forward-deployed Essex Amphibious Ready Group, is on patrol in the western Pacific Ocean participating in Valiant Shield 2010, an integrated joint-training exercise designed to enhance interoperability between U.S. forces.
