Rct. Cody N. Priest, a 21-year-old native of Hoschton, Ga., is currently training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C., in hopes of earning the title United States Marine. Priest, is training with Platoon 1098, Bravo Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, and is scheduled to graduate Dec. 16, 2016. “I joined because I want better myself physically and mentally,” said Priest, who graduated Apalachee High School in 2013. “I also wanted to escape bad influences and start anew.” Approximately 19,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 12 weeks of rigorous training.
