U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Curtis M. Scaparrotti (right), commander of Combined Joint Task Force-82 and Regional Command East, receives the Légion d'honneur, or the National Order of the Legion of Honor, from French Brig. Gen. Pierre Chavancy, Task Force Lafayette commander, June 1. Chavancy presented this award to Scaparrotti on behalf of President Nicolas Sarkozy of France. This is the highest decoration awarded in France. Scaparrotti received this award for his contribution to RC-East and serving alongside the French military during his leadership here.
