Anthony Miller, a Mesa, Ariz., resident and agricultural advisor with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, shovels dirt over a Stars and Stripes newspaper to keep it in place May 7 at Forward Operating Base Ghazni. The newspaper is Miller's innovative idea to keep away weeds and retain moisture around the apple tree roots in the harsh climate of Afghanistan.
