Kim Winburn, with the Defense Logistics Association, participated in the Oklahoma Blood Institute’s Blood Drive in Bldg. 3001 July 13. This is Ms. Winburn’s fourth time donating blood. Connie Driskell, a phlebotomist with OBI sets her up to draw blood. OBI works closely with Tinker Air Force Base and holds several blood drives every year around base. With each unit of blood donated at Tinker, the 72nd Medical Group earns points that help to pay for blood testing through OBI, thus saving Tinker AFB money by holding regular blood drives. Now until Aug. 31, donors will receive two admission tickets to the OKC Zoo and a zoo-themed t-shirt as well as health screenings. According to the OBI website, 1,000 donations are needed every month to support the needs of area hospitals. There is a blood drive Aug. 19 from 8 a.m. to noon at the 72nd Air Base Wing and another Aug. 25 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the 72nd MDG.
