The Camargo family credits the California Military Department Family Relief Fund with helping them get through an extremely difficult time in 2015. The California National Guard Counterdrug Task Force cut Sgt. Carlos Camargo's full-time position because of a lack of funding at the end of September, only a few months after his wife, Patricia, received a cancer diagnosis that required surgery. With the help of a grant from the Family Relief Fund, Carlos, Patricia, 1-year old Evangeline and 5-year-old Brandon Mendoza got through the roughest of times and are now back on their feet.
