Army Staff Sgt. Craig Woolley, a hazardous materials noncommissioned officer with the 3-320th Field Artillery Battalion, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), ground guides one of the last pieces of equipment to be loaded onto the Navy's Military Sealift Command ship the USNS Benavidez during the equipment embarkation phase of the Sealift Emergency Deployment Readiness Exercise (SEDRE).
The SEDRE is designed to train units for deployment readiness, a SEDRE includes the deployment of unit personnel and equipment, as well as an upload and offload of a brigade-sized task force, using real port facilities and ships.
Entities working together during the SEDRE were U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM), U.S. Army Forces Command (FORSCOM), Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC), U.S. Army Reserves, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), the Marine Corps’ 3rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command, the 11th Transportation Battalion, the 832nd Transportation Battalion (SDDC), the U.S. Navy's Military Sealift Command, and local port authorities from Jaxport Cruise Terminal in Jacksonville, Fla.
