1. What is your name and what do you do in the Coast Guard?
"My name is Auxiliarist David Lau and I support the public affairs rate in my free time."
2. Describe diversity in a word or two and explain what it means to you.
"The word I chose to describe diversity is ‘Picture'. When photographing an object, a person or scenery, the photo can look different due to the photographer’s perspective. Differences in the composition, lighting, camera lens and point of view can make each photo unique. Similar to the expression ‘a picture is worth a thousand words,’ diversity can also be described as such. Like photography, if you asked multiple people to describe diversity, chances are you will receive unique answers."
3. How has your experience and background prepared you to be effective at
your job?
"My experience and background as a photographer allows me to train public affairs specialists in photography, it's my way of giving back. I also support them when they need aerial photographs because that's my expertise."
4. Tell me a little bit about your life outside of work.
"I love to travel the world and spend time with my wife and dog. I also enjoy taking my boat out fishing when I can."
