Chemical Biological Incident Response Force (CBIRF)

NAVAL ANNEX STUMP NECK, Md. – Selden, N.Y.-Native Chief Warrant Officer 3 Christopher I. Kamm, the chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear officer for Chemical Biological Incident Response Force, speaks to the Army pilot of a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter assigned to Army 12th Aviation Battalion, prior to sling load operations aboard Naval Annex Stump Neck, April 5, 2016. Marines and sailors with Chemical Biological Incident Response Force (CBIRF), U.S. Marine Corps Forces Command, conducted sling load operations with the coordination of UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter crew assigned to Army 12th Aviation Battalion aboard Naval Annex Stump Neck, Md., April 5, 2016. CBIRF trains for any emergency situation that may arise and sling load operations will enable the unit to be equipped with the skills to transport chemical, biological, nuclear and high-yield (CBRNE) gear via aircraft. This might be necessary in the event there are no other means of transporting the gear from one place to another. When directed, CBIRF forward-deploys and/or responds with minimal warning to (CBRNE) threat or event in order to assist local, state, or federal agencies and the geographic combatant commanders in the conduct of #CBRNE response or consequence management operations, providing capabilities for command and control; agent detection and identification; search, rescue, and decontamination; and emergency medical care for contaminated personnel.
