NORFOLK, Va. (March 24, 2016) Aviation Warfare Systems Operator First Class Brian McGarrigle, stationed at Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron 40 (HSM-40) is awarded by Adm. Phil Davidson, Commander, U.S. Fleet Forces Command as the Fleet Shore Sailor of the Year during an announcement ceremony hosted by the Hampton Roads Navy League at the Sheraton Waterside Hotel. McGarrigle will advance to the final selection process for the Chief of Naval Operations Shore Sailor of the Year while the Fleet Sea Sailor of the Year will travel to Washington D.C. , March 28-31, to be meritoriously promoted to chief petty officer by the Chief of Naval Operations.
