Engineers from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Farah Provincial Reconstruction Team conducted a night operation to visually inspect the electrification project for Kadanak Village, Jan. 13. Abdul Ghani, owner of the Abdul Ghani Electrification Company, was awarded the contract to install the electrical infrastructure in Kadanak back in September 2009. There are a total of 80 street lights now illuminating the village along with enough power from a 160 kilowatt generator to supply electricity to 224 meters. Each meter can service multiple buildings in the area with 600 watts of simultaneous usage per building for four hours every evening. Seeing the village lit at night was the final quality assurance/quality control check for this PRT sponsored project. A ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the project's completion will happen sometime in the near future.
