    Coast Guard Petty Officers Ben Longoria and Matt Hommerson, both with Air Station Kodiak, drop a data marker buoy into the North Pacific Ocean from an HC-130 Hercules aircraft in order to gather data about the direction of ocean currents, surface winds and water temperature Dec. 20, 2009, helping to track the drift of the India-flagged bulk carrier APJ Suryavir. The Hercules crew responded to assist 28 crewmembers aboard the 740-foot APJ Suryavir that was adrift in severe weather conditions of 30-foot seas and winds in excess of 60 mph.
